Book Review of: ‘Allure of Capri’ by, Vicky DiMichele
After going through her divorce, Rose DiMico strikes it rich with penny stocks. Although she is financially secure, she still feels that there is something missing from her life. After purchasing a beautiful castle on the island of Capri in Italy, she recounts her struggles of developing the new property into a luxurious, five-star hotel and the excitement of her blossoming relationship with A-list actor, Leonardo Montague. Will she find true love on the ‘Island of Love’?
Allure of Capri captivated my imagination of the Italian culture through this tale of love, loss and reinvention. It is a dream brought to life as Rose builds herself up and makes her dreams a reality. Though there are hardships navigated through the story, this reminded me of a Hallmark Christmas movie. No, not just because of the holiday in the book but the romance and intrigue that surrounds the centralized theme.
I especially loved the imagery invoked in the story-line. It almost felt like I was walking down the streets lined with orange trees and hanging out at the pool party with my friends. I saw the watery landscape from the balcony and felt the heat of the sun on my skin while lounging with my friends.
I now have more inspiration to revisit this beautiful destination and explore more islands in the Mediterranean on my next trip to Italy. Springtime? sure! Winter? Absolutely! I want to explore those streets and vineyards. Find those unique antiques to furnish my own home! I want to be like Rose in many ways and turn my dreams into reality.
