Amazing Hawaii Vacation Packages For Families

Hawaii is an amazing family destination and for US citizens, an easy vacation destination to visit. You do not have to worry about passports as you would in The Caribbean or South Pacific, plus, you do not have to worry about an exchange rate for your cash. (Please do remember to set up travel alerts on your credit cards though. You don’t want to be stranded without access to your money while on vacation!) Let’s cover some basics and then get into some of my favorite Hawaii vacation packages for your family.

What is the best month to visit Hawaii?

As a rule of thumb, the weather for your Hawaii vacation is generally the best June through September. This is when you can expect the least amount of rainfall along with warmer water. The weather is generally great year round compared to a lot of other states within the USA.

My favorite months are during the winter months for obvious reasons but also because it is whale watching season. The best time to see the whales is November through May when North Pacific Humpback whales visit during their annual winter migration. Maui and Oahu are great islands to experience the whales.

Where should I go in Hawaii for the first time?

If you are planning on visiting Hawaii for the very first time, I would recommend selecting just one island for your trip. This will let you make the most out of your time in Hawaii and really explore all that the destination has to offer. It will also let you get some down time for relaxation. There are just so many activities in so many locations that it is hard to narrow down what you want to do. This is also taxing with children so remember that activities are great but they have little legs and may require naps. Overall, don’t over-pack your schedule to try and see everything.

Should I go to Maui or Oahu first?

Both islands have great weather, beaches, mountains, sunsets and activities for your Hawaii vacation so it all depends on what style of vacation you enjoy. Maui is a bit more laid back and relaxed with their outdoor adventures and romantic resorts. Ohau is a mix of everything. From fantastic shopping around Waikiki Beach to remote National Parks along the North Shore, this is a great island for a beginner’s taste of what Hawaii has to offer.

Is Maui or Oahu better for families?

Maui is really great for family time on a resort and then day trips around the island. Ohau though has more attractions, shopping and cultural activities. It just depends on what you are looking to get out of your family vacation. I would say Maui for the quality time together and Oahu for getting out there and exploring a new destination. The choice is yours!

Hawaii Vacation Packages

With all of the fantastic places to stay, picking a resort can be challenging. There are thousands of reviews and even more room categories to decide between. Overall, you want to make sure that you and your family have enough space. You don’t want to pack everyone into an uncomfortable situation just to save a few dollars. Whether that means booking connecting rooms, a multi-room suite, buying out an entire floor or just renting a luxury villa, the options are there for you to begin planning your family vacation to Hawaii.

Another piece of advise is to make sure your transportation on the island is planned in advance. There is a lot of talk about car rentals in Hawaii. Because of the car shortage, it can cost a lot more than you may be used to and the options you may need such as a van or large SUV may not be available. You don’t want to be stuck with a compact car while trying to pack in your family and accompanying luggage.

If you do need to book a smaller vehicle though, It may be easier to have a transfer service take you and your family to and from the resort because of the extra bags and then tour the island with just your day bags in the car. Just make sure there is a seat-belt for each passenger.
