Thinking of traveling to France? We all know about the Eiffel Tower and the Champagne Region; Bordeaux and the Southern Coast but I’ve just come across something new in the Normandy and Paris region. This is a beautiful destination where the emotions that inspired the Impressionist painters became reality. The famous movement emerged and went on to revolutionize the world of art. In search of nature but also modernity, the artists set up their easels in the picturesque gardens and forests along the Seine and Oise rivers.

On Normandy’s coasts and in the heart of Paris’ districts a new way of looking at landscapes emerged. These settings, many of which remain largely unchanged, bear witness to the greatest Impressionist artists: Monet, Renoir, Degas, Manet, Morisot, Pissarro, Boudin, Caillebotte, Sisley, Van Gogh and so many others that followed.

With these very real locations captured in famous and iconic paintings, Normandy and Paris Tourism boards have set up 9 different regions where you can explore these destinations and see the world through the eyes of the painter themselves. From The Seine Estuary where Monet painted his famous 1872 painting, Impression, Sunrise, to the surroundings of Giverny where you can physically lean over the rail of the famous Japanese bridge which straddles the water-lily pond. The effect of reflections upon the water, the floating lily pads and the willow trees, all combine to create a stunning and peaceful vision.

With over 68 excursions throughout this region, there is no time but the present to begin planning your next adventure through this exciting and historic region. Click here to download their free guides and have fun exploring!
