Lost in NashVegas

Lost in NashVegas” by Rachel Hauck

I recently read the novel “Lost in NashVegas” written by Rachel Hauck. It was a cute story about Robin, an ambitious songwriter trying to make her career in Nashville. It begins in a small town in Alabama where she is a big fish in a little pond. Her talent is exploding and everyone can see it. Following her dreams, she makes the move and tests the waters in a big town.

Throughout the story, you get to know Robin and her family very well. The friends she meets along her journey make you feel like you are friends with them as well. I love these types of novels because they have real places in the real cities. It is like a fun travel guide if you look at it in a different perspective. For instance, Robin visits the “Frothy Monkey”, a coffee shop in downtown Nashville, quite a few times in the story. I’ve personally been to this coffee house when I was staying at The Hermitage Hotel and could physically see these characters in this setting.

A couple characters visit the Country Music Hall of Fame. Although she weaves in displays from her imaginary characters, with the details of the real items on display, it makes the story feel like it really could be taking place. This make this story come to life. It helps you imagine viewing these locations as if you were right there with the couple.

Although I picked up “Lost in NashVegas” book and put it down for a few months, I finally was hooked and couldn’t stop reading. I want to go through it again and make a travel guide of the different locations. How fun would it be to follow Robin’s story from start to finish. I want to sit in The Bluebird Cafe and see the up and coming talent that plays in the hallowed club.
